Connecting to BLS BYOD

Connect your device to the BLS BYOD Wi-Fi network. The password is knowledge.

Once connected, you will be prompted for your Bend-La Pine Schools login information.

Decryption Information (for students)

Bend-La Pine Schools decrypts certain HTTPS websites in order to filter student traffic for malicious/inappropriate content.

By connecting to and using the BLS BYOD network, you are agreeing to have your network traffic decrypted and inspected while connected to our network.

When connecting your personal device to the BLS BYOD network, you will receive "certificate warnings" in your web browser when this happens. If you'd like to suppress these warnings, you may install our certificate into your device's trusted certificate store.

Certificate Installation

  1. Click here to download the BLS Root CA certificate. Save it to your desktop, or some place where you can find it easily.
  2. Double-click the certificate file you just downloaded.
  3. Click the Install Certificate... button.
  4. Click the Local Machine option and click Next.
  5. Select Place all certificates in the following store and click Browse...
  6. Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK.
  7. Click Next > and then Finish.

Certificate Installation

  1. Click here to download the BLS Root CA certificate. Save it to your Downloads folder, or some place where you can find it easily.
  2. Double-click the certificate file you just downloaded.
  3. Select System from the Keychain dropdown and click Add.
  4. Enter your password and click Modify Keychain.
  5. Open the Keychain Access application.
  6. Select System from the Keychains list in the left sidebar.
  7. Double-click on the Bend-La Pine Schools Root CA certificate.
  8. Click on the arrow next to Trust.
  9. Select Always Trust from the When using this certificate dropdown.
  10. Close the Bend-La Pine Schools Root CA window.
  11. Enter your password and click Update Settings.
  12. Quit Keychain Access.

Certificate Installation

  1. Tap here to download the BLS Root CA certificate.
  2. When asked if you'd like to open Settings, tap Allow.
  3. Tap Install in the Install Profile box, and in the confirmation message.
  4. Tap Done.
  5. Open Settings.
  6. Tap General.
  7. Tap Profiles & Device Management.
  8. Tap Bend-La Pine Schools Root CA.
  9. Tap Install.
  10. Tap Install.
  11. Tap Install.
  12. Tap Done.
  13. Tap General.
  14. Tap About.
  15. Tap Certificate Trust Settings.
  16. Under Enable full trust for root certificates, enable trust for the Bend-La Pine Schools Root CA certificate.

Certificate Installation

There are many different Android devices and versions that will differ slightly. Generally:

  1. Tap here to download the BLS Root CA certificate.
  2. You may receive a message telling you that CA certificates must be installed in Settings. Tap Close.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Tap Security.
  5. Tap Encryption & credentials.
  6. Tap Install a certificate.
  7. Tap CA certificate.
  8. Tap Install anyway.
  9. Provide your PIN, password, and/or fingerprint if prompted.
  10. Tap the "hamburger" icon in the upper left.
  11. Tap Downloads.
  12. Tap BLS-Root-CA.crt.
  13. Tap Wi-Fi certificate.
  14. Tap BLS-Root-CA.crt.
  15. When prompted to provide a name, type "BLS BYOD Certificate" and tap OK.
  16. Close Settings.

Certificate Installation

  1. Click here to download the BLS Root CA certificate to your Downloads folder.
  2. Type chrome://settings/certificates into the Chrome address bar and press ENTER.
  3. Click the AUTHORITIES tab.
  4. Click the IMPORT button.
  5. Select the file (BLS-Root-CA.crt) you just downloaded and click OPEN.
  6. Check the Trust this certificate for identifying websites checkbox and click OK.
